Wednesday: Leap Day Crazy

Since when has Leap Day become such a huge day? Even 30 Rock came out with an episode for Leap Day! Go watch on hulu.com, it is so good. I just cannot remember when Leap Day became a "holiday". People all over Facebook were wishing others a "Happy Leap Day". Just a tad strange.

Then to top it all off, there are rumors that Snookie is preggers?!? Holy cow. The world is over as we know it, if she and her crazy boyfriend are going to start reproducing. (We all know that if it were true, it was unexpected). It makes me shudder a little to think this girl (since she continues to act like one haha) who just said on national television the other night, that she "felt like breaking a law or two"; could possibly even be allowed to have a child. It baffles me.

Today was just such a strange day, the weather stunk. Everyone overreacted like usual and thought we were gonna get a ton of snow. I'll admit I thought we might get the snow too. Rain. All it did was rain and rain. I would rather it be a thunder storm than what we had, it was just a blah day. Which didn't help us here at home, because everyone down to little Charlie has been feeling cruddy. Mom is still in pain, I've got a infection and am in pain, dad's back has been a mess, and Charlie has been throwing up everywhere!

We're a mess!

I think he agrees :)

Charlie dances :)

Just because I found this entertaining and wanted to share with you guys the cuteness of Charlie :)

Monday: Wishlist

Maybe it is the fact I just found out my tax refund is $445, or maybe it is a new found desire to be even more economically conscious, but I have decided a few things today. First of all, I've decided that I am going to try to eat out as little as humanly possible. I went to the grocery store yesterday and bought some stuff for the week, so I should be good. I want to see how long I can go for, and it should save me a lot.

The second thing I decided, is that after I pay for Charlie's neutering (haha) I plan on saving up money in general but also for a new purse and wallet. Charlie ruined my other purse, as I've mentioned, so I need a new cross body bag and I've narrowed it down to two.

The top one is from JCrew and called the Baby Brompton. It isn't as small as you might think, it's actually a really decent size and the shape is awesome. There is just a lot of white space on top of the photo. Then the second is from Coach, it is called the Madison Fashion Swingpack. I adore the shape of it and it too is a pretty decent size. Both are under $200 which is why I think it is a reasonable amount to save up for. I'm only going to buy one for now, but maybe in another few months I'll get the other if I still love it. I saw one cross body by another brand that I fell in love with but for $400+, there was no way in hell I was going to spend my money on that.

As for wallets, I really found one design I liked I just don't know what color I want. This is one of the colors I am thinking of, but this is just so you can see what it looks like:
Lastly, I really want to save up eventually for some more make-up brushes from Sigma. I have one of their sets and they are incredible. I love the new sets of brushes they've come out with too, in particular I want the Premium Professional Kit:
And then I really want to try their Synthetic Essentials Kit, which is all high definition brushes:
Some of you may be thinking okay that's too much, you don't need all those make-up brushes. But believe it or not, I kind of do. I really use like 97% of my brushes and to have some duplicates would be great for when I mix colors. Plus, different brushes do different things, and with all the different types of products out there you need a specific way to apply them.

So yeah, I've gone a little nutso with the wishlist, but I think if I can save up the money myself, then I deserve to spend it how I choose. And I do not plan on getting this all at once. I might get the wallet and one purse together, but the other stuff can wait, I'm in no rush.

I do want to become a lot more economically conscious though, because I will be finishing up school soon and I don't have to take out anymore loans to pay for school so I will have to start paying back the ones I do have. Plus, it won't be too long until it is time for me to start thinking about moving out of my parent's house. I have my interview with Public Allies tomorrow though, so that'll be a step in the right direction for sure. Wish me luck!

Update

So I know I've been MIA lately but the last week of my classes was kicking my butt. I start two new ones on Monday but I'm excited for them because they are my 1st official political science classes. I'm taking political ideologies and American national government.

I hate not having anything to do so I'm glad I don't have a break off. Besides I'm so close to being done! Four classes in the summer and four in the fall and hello diploma!

My mom just had surgery on Friday. She's in a ton of pain because she kinda had a not so great outcome. She tore her bicep tendon and they didn't know until they went in. She ended up with a ton of stitches and staples. She pretty miserable but she starts therapy next week so hopefully she will recover soon!

Other than that not much is going on. I had the week off from work and rehearsals but thankfully I'll get back into the schedule on Monday. I like having a list of things I have to do and go to.

Well I just wrote this whole thing as I am on my way to NYC. We are on the train and this is not easy to do on an iPhone lol

Enjoy your weekend!

Monday: Nail Polish and Concealer

So I wanted to share the three new nail polishes I bought at Sephora maybe a week ago. In the last four or five months, I have been really into painting my own nails and honestly it has done wonders for them. I stopped for a while after my surgery in December, and I'm just starting up now but in that time my nails started to suck again. Just the filing and trimming alone kept them in awesome shape and helped them grow.
The colors in order : Leaf him at the alter, I don't bite, and Looks like rain dear

I've worn the gold and the purple (yes it is purple) and they are awesome. I personally like the gold more it actually comes off very sophisticated. I am looking forward to wear the green, it is such a beautiful shade.

The other noteworthy thing I bought recently is the Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette. People have been raving about this thing for the longest time in blogs and on Youtube, so I decided to take the plunge. There is two shades of concealer, a corrector, and a translucent powder. I honestly couldn't figure out which was the correcter, if it was the one above the powder or to the left of it. The powder is in the bottom right. So I think I've decided the one to the left is, because of how yellow it is. For ten bucks, this thing is pretty incredible. However, I get a bit of creasing with it, so I don't know if it is my end all be all. I think I need to vary the amounts I use and just get used to it. I do still love my Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer though. So we will see!

Friday: Favorites

This week has been a long one, and I don't know about you but I am exhausted! I hope everyone had an amazing Valentine's Day :) I am officially celebrating tomorrow night with the boyfriend but he brought me flowers Tuesday :) I'm in the last week of my Chemistry and History classes, so hopefully all will go smoothly. I've been so bogged down by homework lately! I have a week off from work and rehearsals this coming week and on the 28th I have an interview so wish me luck! So on to my favorites for the week :)

The Laura Mercier Lingerie Eye and Cheek Palette
- this has been amazing for my make-up looks this week. I did a subtle pink and purple smokey eye that was gorgeous. The colors are incredible and the color payoff is amazing. The blushes especially are amazing in the color pay off department.

Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color in Beige Gold
- the perfect nude with a hint of gold...this lipstick is outstanding in every way :)

Washington and Maryland
- Washington became the next state to legalize gay marriage and Maryland is right behind them :) Congratulations!

SourceFed
- this is Phillip DeFranco's (sxephil) newest venture. He is a genius and I love watching his show, The Phillip DeFranco show. This is a mix of a news show, comedy, game show, and more. The people he has working on the show as hosts and amazing, Elliot Morgan, Joe Bereta, and Lee Newton are some of the most awesome and funny people I've seen in a long time. Be sure to check it out and subscribe!

Angry Birds
-Facebook just got Angry Birds and my love for it as been renewed :)

Pintrest & 750words.com
-these two websites I just reviewed in my Thursday post, be sure to check that post out and then go see those websites in action :)

Well, that's all for the Friday post. Have a great weekend and don't party too hard ;)

Thursday: Social Media

So my recent love on the social media scene has been Pintrest. If you don't know what it is, it is literally like having a virtual cork bored for pictures of anything and everything. It can get a little addicting. You can like the "pins" of others, follow other people and repin what they put on their sites. You can also have separate boards for different things. For example, if you wanted to have a clothing board, a interior design board, and anything else.

Here is a picture of one of my boards:

The set up is really sleek and simple which I love and it lets the colors in the pictures pop so much more :)

Another site that I had discovered a while ago and just went back to is 750words.com It is this great site where you can write freely. It is sort of like an online journal. It keeps track of how many days you write, if you write everyday in a row, how many words, and much more. The goal is to write at least 750 words a day. It is a open white space so it is really easy to start typing and get carried away. You can earn badges on the site too for how much writing you do, how fast, etc.

One of the best things about this site is that it takes note of the things you write about, they call it "your subconscious"-- what your mood seems to be while writing, words you write a lot, and it sort of gives you a look into the type of writing you do. Sometimes an entry will be more negative and it will tell you that. It notes how much you swear, or how positive you're being. It is incredible how much you can learn.

The layout is very minimalistic. I think it is a great way to get motivated to write, and learn about yourself in the process. I really want to try to get into this for real.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Wednesday: Randomness

Ah Wednesday...today is my random, talk about whatever I want post. Thing is, I don't know what I want to talk about. My brain has been turned to mush by the 5/6 hours of Chemistry homework I've done today. I took off my afternoon shift just so I could get it done.

The only interesting things I managed to do today was 1. pay 23 bucks to get Charlie's nails cut (such a rip off!) 2. turn in a bunch of scratch offs that I won $42 on (yay!) and 3. pick up my brother from school and bring him back home.

I feel like I need another 10 hours of sleep though, which I will not get since its 10 pm and I have to wake up for 6:20 am tomorrow. I'm just looking forward to the weekend. I get to officially celebrate Valentine's Day with my boyfriend :) I don't exactly know what that means...we might just go out for dinner but either way it makes me happy. Sadly though, my homework is no where near done. I have to do a small writing assignment on 10 pages worth of reading. I have to do discussion replies, and start prepping for an essay due in less than a week.

It makes me so tired and angry just thinking about it, especially since I just registered for four Summer classes today. 3 political science classes and one english class to finish off my literacy requirement. Yeesh, and I will have 4 more classes left come fall semester. That diploma should be mine no later than December.

I got the interview I've been wanting! I know that is random,  but school might play a part in whether I get this job. It's for a company called Public Allies, where I will get a job through them with a non-profit. It's really exciting so hopefully it'll all work out. They just say they'd rather the applicants not be in school, but this job won't start until September, and I will only have less than 3 months to go in school. Since, I'm online hopefully they'll make an exception!

I am going to go look up crafts for work, I'm probably running an art class for 4 Fridays in March, and I need to have projects to present to my boss! Have a good night :)

Tuesday: Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I know this is going up after midnight but oh well, I just got home. Since today was crazy busy and I spent the night with my boyfriend, I'm excusing myself from the regular Tuesday post. I will post tomorrow's regular post and a catch up post for Tuesday later on today (Wednesday). So I hope you all had a good Valentine's day! ^ Those are the flowers Shaun gave me tonight :)

Today I saw a lot of mixed feelings about Valentine's day. At work, the kids were incredibly excited and revved up. On Facebook, half the people were happy and the other half cursed the holiday. I personally, enjoy this holiday. Sure it sucks if you don't have a significant other, but you know what? That isn't what it is all about. You get to stop and think about all the different love in your life. I get to reflect on the love I have from my brother and my parents. Honestly, I have the best and most supportive parents in the world, and I get to really remember how much they love me today.

I get to think about my friends, even though most of them are out of state at the moment, I know that if I need them they are there for me. I get to see little kids at work get excited because they got a bunch of Valentines, and maybe that one special little boy or girl gave them candy and that made the entire day better. I honestly wish people would celebrate the love they have in their lives like this everyday. Today is not the only day someone can make a grand gesture. Go buy your mom or girlfriend flowers just for the hell of it. I promise you, you will see a smile so big it'll make your own heart grow a little. (Yes, I know how corny that sounds...give me a break) Why wait til Valentine's day to buy a little gift for someone, or take them out on a nice date?

We are all so preoccupied by life, stress, and whatever else that sometimes we forget to show appreciation for the little things we have. I know I can do that myself. I've had some rough months with the surgery and being sick, but I had parents who did everything in their power to make sure I was okay, a boyfriend who would come see me and hold me even with a big stupid brace on, and a puppy who would make me smile. Not everyone is so lucky, and those who are should always take the time to remember that.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone, I love you all :)

Monday: American Eagle Haul

Tonight I met up with my friend Nikki to have dinner. We've known each other since elementary school and we get so busy now a days that we haven't seen each other in a while, so it was so nice to see her again! Well, after dinner we stopped in American Eagle at the mall and we both could not help ourselves haha

So I figured I would share with you what I bought from there! I had 15% off on my purchase, so I went a little crazy but I really like everything I bought.

So first up, I bought this shirt in two colors:

I adore flowy tops like this and one of my favorite body parts of mine is actually my shoulders and my collar bone, so these are perfect for showing those off. Hey, even with my four surgery scars on my right shoulder!

I found this and almost died, I have been looking for a sweater like this for so long. It is perfect because it is something I could even pull off in the Summer when it gets cool at night.
There was this cute cross-body bag and I have really loved having a cross body bag, but my dog chewed a hole in it and threw up on it, so it was time to retire it. I really liked this though because it's perfect for all the running around from work and other errands.
Then I saw this color and had to have it. I love these bandeau bras, they are so cute and perfect for layering under low cut tops. The lace just makes it so pretty. I love Aerie (American Eagle's under wear line) so whenever I get a chance I try to pick something up.

When I was looking for this picture I saw this, and I want it in like every color:
This is just so cute and awesome all in one :)

Finally, I bought this shirt, but weirdly there was no picture on the website so I had to take one of my own!
It is a black dolman shirt with a v-neck (which is hard to see in this picture) and drawstrings. You can see the beads if you look hard. Also the neck line and around the arms is lined with little pom pom balls, which is actually kinda cute. If the shirt goes up on the site, I'll post that picture instead.

Well that was all! Hope you enjoyed :)

Thursday: Youtube Video

So for Thursdays, I want to share the social media that I loved most for the week. I have two Youtube videos in particular that I wanted to share. First up, is by JennaMarbles, who if you don't know her, is one of the funniest girls ever. She is hysterical, and completely blunt and honest which makes it even better. She also has two adorable little dogs, Marbles the Chihuahua and Kermit the Italian Greyhound. They are amazing and even star in their own videos sometimes! Here is her video for this week, what boys do in the bathroom in the morning :)

Next up, is a video by Phillip DeFranco. He is one of the biggest stars of Youtube and there is a reason. He is so genuine and doesn't feed his viewers crap. He tells it like it is and if you don't like his opinion well fuck off. He does a show every day, and reports on "stuff that mattered to him". The best part about this video and why I love it so much, is that he uses his humor so well. And even if he is making jokes about women or gays you cannot help but laugh because he actually cares a lot about people but he just knows how to make fun of everyone. You can actually learn a lot from his shows. This is his Thursday show!

Hope you enjoy these two videos! Have a freaking amazing weekend guys!

Wednesday: Catch Up

So yes, I did not get to write my post for yesterday, but today I'm going to play catch up. There are a couple things in politics that I wanted to talk about. First up, I am giving kudos to the state of Washington, because they just legalized same-sex marriage! This is just an awesome thing to hear, especially months after New York did the same. Like I've said before, it is a step in the right direction. The bill passed with a 55-43 vote in the House and that made Washington the seventh state to legalize gay marriage. I am really looking forward to seeing who else will take this step in 2012.

On a similar note, in California a federal appeals panel has voted that the ban on same-sex marriage is a violation of the constitutional right to equal protection. So right now, the next step is that opponents can try to appeal this decision in the U.S. Court of Appeals, or take it to the Supreme Court. I am really hoping that if it does get taken to appeals again, that this doesn't get put back into action. Proposition 8 has no place in our government. It would be amazing to see the state of California legalize same-sex marriage eventually, and this is how it will happen. As long as the opponents don't get their way again, and it would be interesting to see how the Supreme Court rules it, seeing as they've never ruled on this topic in the past. My prediction though: the Supreme Court would rule Proposition 8 unconstitutional.

I wanted to speak a little about the Susan G. Komen foundation. Obviously now the big news is that the Vice President has resigned. I just still cannot wrap my head around the whole thing. A foundation dedicated to breast cancer, stops giving funds to Planned Parenthood to give breast exams, because they're being "investigated"? It was an utterly stupid move on their part. Planned Parenthood is often the only place people can go for health care. Women's health is a huge area that needs all the support it can get. To see the internet and people come together and have this decision reversed in only a few days, was incredible. It makes me really optimistic that people really can make the difference.

I was also really happy to hear about Obama's new regulation about birth control. Of course, the religious groups and Republicans are up in arms, but I say screw 'em. The regulation requires almost all employers to cover birth control, which means no co-pay for women we get it. So many women are using birth control, and the reasons why are endless. Some are using it for family planning yes, but others use it for other purposes. Here's a graphic with information that is on President Obama's website:

Monday: Blushing

Sometime last week I had to run to the grocery store, and if you know me, then you know I made a beeline for the make-up aisle. I took a peek to see if there were any Revlon Lip Butters but alas it was a no. But I saw these and I was ecstatic! The Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes are awesome, here are some pictures and swatches.

Starting with the bright pink color, that is number 15 names Rose Petal. This is a beautiful color that will work with almost anyone. The next one is number 60 which is named Coffee Cake. I honestly think this might be my favorite. It looks more gold/orange in the picture but it is the perfect neutral blush ever. Of course, I would stick with more light/medium skin tones with this. It might not show up on darker skin tones and the really light skinned, it could just look a little dirty. The last one is number 50, Plum Wine. I adore this color, but I haven't really used it yet because it's more of a nighttime color at least for me.

I included a picture of the profiles to see that it is puffed up and that you can squish it down. Honestly, they are regular cream blushes but they dry to a powder finish which is kind of nice. The squishy-ness of the product is just fun, not really any need for it. I give these 4 stars, only because the two lighter colors you really need to pack on, and I could see the product being used much faster especially because of how soft it is.

Friday: Favorites

I know I know, I totally forgot to post Wednesday and Thursday. Let me just blame that on my procrastination of a 7 page paper that was due. I hate when I get into a mood where I can't get my work done, it is really frustrating! Anyways, back on schedule with Friday favorites.

Right now my favorite story for the week is the Susan G. Koman foundation and their awful choice to cut funding for Planned Parenthood, and then their decision to take that back. I'm probably going to write a separate post on this but this was a very important story. It is a perfect example of how politics has become a cumbersome thing. It changes people and what they see as right and wrong. Obviously, the public felt that the decision to cut funding the program was not the best thing to do, and sadly it took this whole debacle for the Susan G. Koman foundation to figure that out. Hundreds of thousands seek their health care at Planned Parenthood and it was an irresponsible decision on the part of the Koman foundation.

I just started listening to Lana Del Ray's new album Born To Die. When I say just started, I mean like 2 hours ago haha It is amazing though, I am so impressed with the songs. I've heard Video Games a few times and liked it, but her other songs are so much more awesome! I saw her SNL performance and I was so hesitant because she was so terrible, but it was probably nerves. Plus, no one sounds the same as their CD live. Two other songs I'm loving are "This Little Girl" by Cady Groves...did not think I'd like this so much but I think it's one of those girl songs all girls can relate to. Also I'm dying over "Somebody I Used To Know" by Goyte.....oh my freaking lord it is such a good song. I want to choreograph a dance to it, it is just that good.

I'm really into winged eyeliner right now too. I don't know why but when it is done right, it totally changes your eyes. I've been using the Urban Decay liners I got for my birthday and they are great. I also really love the Tinted Balm from Bobbi Brown as my foundation right now. It is a little dark and yellow but not enough where it doesn't look natural :)

Flowers. I've gotten flowers three different times in the last like two weeks. I just love getting them, and having them up in my room.

Other than that, I don't have too much on the list. Hope you all have a good weekend!
